Wedding videography as a "second shooter" is the highest paying freelance gig work that new videographers can land. Usually it takes years to learn how to land these gigs, but with this course, you can get started in as fast as 30 days.
Second shooters can easily charge $500/day, even as beginners, by selling their services directly to wedding videography companies, instead of to brides and grooms.
But that’s ONLY if you understand what makes wedding videography such a unique form of filmmaking.
You see...
Weddings are a particular type of event. They're extremely formal. The men are often in tuxedos, and the women are often in ball gowns. At luxury weddings, the bride and groom are often the children of millionaires or billionaires... and these families usually have a very high standard for etiquette and manners. (Believe it or not, I've shot weddings with the Secret Service in attendance, because former U.S. presidents were on the guest list.)
What this means is that a wedding videographer must not only be talented and reliable with a video camera... they must also be elegant and conscientious while they're working.
This is the real reason that wedding filmmakers can charge so much. And it's also why wedding filmmakers are so scared to hire beginners.
Wedding filmmaking is 50% filmmaking, and 50% social skills. Until now, very few people have understood this fact.
As a "second shooter" who understands how to be extremely reliable as a videographer, while also being professional, polite, well-dressed, and with good manners all day... you will be in extremely high demand for this high-paying work.
I put this course together because there is a HUGE lack of knowledge online regarding the social skills, manners, and etiquette required to be a second shooter. There is also a huge lack in knowledge everywhere that the role of "second shooter" even exists. There are dozens of courses about how to start your own full-time wedding videography company, but this course —as far as I know—is the first of its kind that teaches new videographers how to land work as second shooters.
My goal in this course is to teach you how to quickly begin making at least $500/day every Saturday for the entire year. For some, this is all the income they will need to live a great life (and have six-day weekends). For others, this may just be bonus money you make in addition to a salary job you already work, or a fun way to get started as a full-time videographer. Either way, it's a great skill to have.
And then... after you gain experience as a second shooter, later you can start getting work as a freelance lead/solo/associate shooter, where you can charge $1000-$2000 a day to film on behalf of another wedding company without them there. And that's with absolutely NO editing, meeting with brides, or running your own full-time business. Just show up, shoot, and upload the raw footage.
What's included?
This course is broken up into three main sections.
1) How to film weddings (228min)
2) Social skills and professionalism at weddings (116min)
3) Sales and marketing: how to land gigs on autopilot (188min)
Plus... a bonus mini-course called "Ten Days to Talented" that gives you short assignments that will take you from novice to pro in only one hour of practice each day, for 10 total days. My goal is for you to be able to deliver incredibly beautiful and cinematic professional-level footage in the shortest time possible.
I'm also giving you:
-Free access to a simple-to-use landing page website builder so you can start your own website to advertise your services. This would usually cost you $25/mo (or $300/year) but I'm including it for free.
-Once you've gone through the program, you will be added to a global database I'm creating for qualified second shooters. This will allow wedding filmmakers from all over the world to hire you for your services.
-Access to a student community. You will be able to post your practice videos to get feedback from me, and from other students. If you have any questions about ANY aspect of this job, you'll be receiving tons of help from me inside the community.
-Pre-designed camera and lens packages for every budget, so you don't have to spend years researching equipment, and you can get started immediately. Far too many aspiring videographers these days get sucked down the YouTube rabbit hole of "what gear should I buy?" and end up becoming addicted to researching gear.
-Wardrobe guides for both men and women (and anyone else), so you can look wedding-ready on any budget. Personally, one of my favorite parts of this job is putting on a snazzy black suit every week... but that's just me.
-A custom pack of cinematic LUTs for your camera.
Who am I?
My name is Drew Ott. I'm 31 years old, and I got started as a second shooter back when I was only 15... which means I've been doing this for 16 years. As a high schooler I was the go-to second shooter for some of the best wedding filmmakers in the world, and that's how I've been paying my bills ever since. I've shot hundreds of weddings, but I've never started my own wedding company, which means I never work directly with brides. (If you're curious, you can check out my second shooter website here: https://www.secondshooteratx.com)
Wedding filmmaking is a very very competitive industry... but, if you decide to become only a "second shooter," you may discover that there is almost no competition at all. In fact, many wedding filmmakers say that the hardest part of running their business is finding reliable and talented second shooters who will stick with them for many years. I have even heard this type of second shooter referred to as a "unicorn."
In this course, I'm going to teach you how to become that go-to second shooter for great wedding companies. The work is challenging but it's also a lot of fun when you work with great people. I have designed the course so that you can begin landing these gigs in as soon as 30 days. When you're ready to get started, I'm here to help.
NOTE: Immediately upon purchase you will receive an email inviting you to the online community where all the course videos and materials are hosted.
